Anything by Yesterday's Classics that we've read has been wonderful. We are a Charlotte Mason oriented family so we want good, solid books with living ideas written by people who love their subject and can communicate it in a narrative fashion so my kids can remember and connect it to other ideas easily. It's good as a read aloud for youngers and for an independent book for readers. I have my kids narrate each chapter and every once in a while have them tell me a "timeline story" (Meaning, they need to retell several chapters at once.) They know these stories, love them, continue to talk about them and make their own connections. On a side note, not everything in Yesterday's Classics is always PC, but that gives opportunity to discuss whether the PC way our culture is going is actually good or not. I'd give my kids one of these anytime, but most of what's being written now for older kids, particularly in the young adult section, is dark and makes evil seem good and good seem evil. Here kids will find real live heroes who have godly character.Product details

Great book for kids to get hooked on history.

MY 8 YR OLD READ IN ONE SITTING. I HAVEN'T READ IT ALL YET, BUT LIGHTLY SKIMMED IT AND IT LOOKED FANTASTIC.
Great series, hard to put down and move on to the next class. She writes in a very interesting way and keeps your attention while learning US History.
