Movie star + paparazzo...what could possibly go wrong?

Movie star Colin Colton has a contentious relationship with the press--especially that pushy paparazzo, Zach Jarlson.

He certainly doesn't expect to ever feel sympathy for the little bugger...much less anything more.

But somehow, they go from enemies to friends and lovers...and then back again, when their world is turned upside down and each thinks the other betrayed him.

But even once they learn the truth, can a relationship between an actor and a paparazzo survive?

A contemporary gay romance or m/m romance.

Length approximately 33,000 words

Heat level Low

~Excerpt~

"I'm from the agency," said the driver, hunching lower.

"You can barely see over the wheel," observed Colin, his brow furrowing.

"So, we can't all be six foot and made of rock." The short driver made an attempt to straighten his shoulders, but he still…

Hey… he really didn't fit that jacket, did he?

"Pull over," growled Colin. "You're not my driver."

"I am now." The man's voice held chortling triumph, a mean note beneath the humor. "Or aren't I tall enough to be a paparazzi, either?"

"Paparazzo," corrected Colin wearily. The short man continued to drive competently and quickly away from those following the limo. "You guys never quit, do you? What's it going to take? My body broken and dead in the street? You're vultures. You live off—"

"Shut up!" snapped the short driver. "What do you live off, huh?" He caught Colin's eye in the mirror and glared at him.

It was dark. Colin couldn't distinguish features. Probably wouldn't be able to pick out the man in a lineup, except by his height. Colin's chest tightened despite himself. He could handle himself against the man, oh yes, easily. But this guy was driving… and possibly a bit crazed.

"I make movies. I help give people a few minutes of escape from their lives," said Colin with dignity. Talk him down, like it's a cop movie and I'm the hero. I don't want to die in a horrible crash. "Now pull over. You don't need to keep up the charade."

"I damn well do. I want a good picture, and I'm going to get it. And I won't with all those vultures on your tail!" The short man's voice rose.

"Calm down. What's your name?" asked Colin.

The man snorted. "Please. As if you care!"

Colin grabbed at the door as the car careered around a corner wildly, his heart thumping. "Would you please watch what you're doing?"

"Sorry. I'm not used to driving a car this big."

Yeah, you probably drive a Volkswagen Beetle and can still barely see over the wheel. For a brief moment, Colin amused himself by viciously imagining his stalker the size of a mouse, squeaking as he tried to reach the wheel and pedals at the same time.

"Tell me your name, or I'll just call you Shrimp."

The driver snorted. "Like that's never happened before."

"Okay, you asked for it. Shrimp it is." He sat back and crossed his arms. "Tell me, why do you do this job? Why do you act as a vulture for the scandal papers?"

"Which is it, Shrimp or Vulture?"

"How about both? You're not answering my question."

"Because, damn it, some of us have to eat, and we're not famous actors, okay?"

His Paparazzo edition by Hollis Shiloh Literature Fiction eBooks

A relatively short, charming, innocent love story about a world-famous movie star and the young paparazzo who becomes his lover.

It's certainly well-written enough, and it has all the twists, turns and misunderstandings that are the meat and potatoes of the Gay Romance genre. And, thank heavens, virtually no clinically-detailed sex scenes.

It's neither Shakespeare nor Hemingway, but it was certainly an enjoyable enough read. I suspect the only problem with the book was its length. Longer than a standard novella, but not quite long enough to be called a full-fledged novel, it just lacks the legroom required to fully develop characters, leading to some abrupt and even assumed changes and conflicts. Thus the four stars.

With a little more meat on the bones, I would have been tempted to give it all five.

His Paparazzo edition by Hollis Shiloh Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

have read most of this author, and this is my favorite so far. almost late for work reading this morning.
I received this book from the lending library and this is a good thing for me. While I have read several books from this author, I have to say it not the author's best book. ( just my opinion). The writing was good it just felt to disjointed to me. I like the writing style of this author, but I felt it was rushed. I didn't feel any empathy for the MCs' like I normally do with this author's writing.
I've grown fond of Ms. Shiloh's work and I enjoyed this book very much. Both main characters are appealing and sympathetic. The premise of the story is different and held my interest firmly all the way through. I have to say, however, that Ms. Shiloh really should have spend more time fine-tuning the writing. The dialogue is awkward more often than not, sapping the story's credibility. Some of the plot devices are just too much of a stretch as well. This is an excellent book with great bones that might have been fleshed out better. But still, it's very enjoyable!
A couple of things that were enjoyable for me, as an already established Shiloh fan, with this book were the fact that this was more modern and up to date enough that none of it seemed hard to imagine, and that there were actually chapter headings! Ms. Shiloh doesn’t usually enumerate chapters by number, or even break them up; her stories usually run at a continuous pace with only page break markers sporadically placed.

Outside of that, it’s pretty much typical for a Shiloh book good writing, developed characters, good world building, and sweet romance with a low to medium heat level. The mystery “who done it” part was almost obvious; I say almost because at one point one of Zach’s coworkers asked what it was like sleeping with Colin. How did they know? It was never addressed. It was difficult to read about Zach punishing both himself & Colin by making assumptions and running away from everything, but I understand what it can be like being painfully shy, with no friends and low self-esteem. Pack being in the closet on top of that and I’m sure life would be rough for anyone. But to be so shy and soft-spoken, Zach was quite a bit of a stalker! I loved how everything worked out, especially the epilogue (I love epilogues!). Needless to say, anyone who enjoyed any of Shiloh’s other works will enjoy this one.
The book was wonderful , warm , tender, and delirious .
I felt every part of the word's and felt like I was there .
Thanks ...
I loved reading this book! The characters are very interesting! It's refreshing to read a story that isn't revolved around the bedroom! There's more to a story than that and this author doesn't disappoint! Will read more from this author!
I loved this story and fell in love with the characters. Well written book and easy to read. I recommend it.
